Project Overview

Jialing Riverside | The Millennium Ancient Town 

According to an old Chinese proverb: "One flagstone road, and one thousand years' Ciqikou". Surrounded by three mountains and ran through by one river and two streams, Ciqikou Ancient Town is reputed as “Little Chongqing” among tourists.  Ciqikou was selected as one of China's famous historical and cultural streets in 2010, and is a good place to relive the old dream of Chongqing.

Ciqiko Backstreet is based on the traditional façade of the ancient town, fully integrated with Chongqing's undulating mountainous terrain and Bashi culture, integrating tradition and fashion, adding a modern element compared to the ancient town.

As a total solution provider of urban intelligent lighting, Roleds is honored to participate in creating the Chongqing Ciqikou Backstreet night tour project, recreating the prosperous scene of "ten thousand bright lights at night" with lighting

Design Thinking 

 Ciqikou Ancient Town is a long-standing traditional Bayu style area in the main city of Chongqing, vividly interpreting the traditional Chinese ecological concept of "Taoism and Nature", with the scent of the old days wading through history and scattered among the turquoise moss marks on the green stone roads.

Relying on the unique topography and architectural landscape of the ancient town, Ciqikou Backstreet combines and preserves the traditional architectural style and historical culture of Bayu for thousands of years. Focusing on the "landscape" and "culture", the project uses modern techniques to mend the fragmented urban space, allowing Ciqikou to become one with the modern city while preserving its original historical atmosphere.

The lighting of the project is aimed at creating a night scene symbol of Chongqing city, giving the building colors through lighting, gradual changes in light and dark, and layered night lighting, so that the prosperity of the magnet kou can be restored.

Smart Lighting Solution

Considering the significant historical layers and unique geomorphology of Ciqikou Ancient Town, the design principle of "moving and static, touching the scenery" is followed, and the brightness, color temperature and color zoning are implemented to make the whole area present a combination of landscape, humanity and modern trend.

The overall warm color tone of the project is the main theme, a large number of Roleds buried, wall washing, tiles and other series of products, strict color temperature control, anti-glare design, internal light transmission and exterior façade lighting harmonization, so that the building is more classical and integrated. The cascade of light and shadow at the bottom of the eaves, the soft light caressing the tile surface, and the alternation of light and dark between the layers make the building present a majestic atmosphere and delicate and soft interweaving.

In the Jiangjiayao square, youth hostel, hanging foot tower square, stacked underwater garden area to do important color lighting, lighting change different colors and forms, the cultural heritage of the ancient town cleverly combined, so that visitors in the process of play experience, can be unconscious immersion to feel the inculcation of history and culture.
