Fuxing Bridge, Hangzhou

A vital artery during the 19th Asian Games

One of China's first double deck multi-arch landscape bridges and one of the most important transport hubs in Hangzhou paints a rainbow along the Qiantang River.

Celebrating over 20 years since its inception, the Fuxing Bridge stands tall as a vital artery during the 19th Asian Games, spanning the Qiantang River, renowned alongside Hangzhou Bay for the awe-inspiring “Silver Dragon,” the world’s largest tidal bore. Stretching 1376 meters long, the Fuxing Bridge itself becomes a spectacle, offering breathtaking views with its surroundings.

Constructed primarily of steel, the bridge boasts a structural design comprising two levels of roadway supported by arched steel pipes, resembling waves and surges of the Qiantang River. The lighting design intricately enhances the arched contours using ROLEDS high-efficiency LED floodlights, accentuating the bridge’s architectural beauty. The largest two arches incorporate RGBW LED chips, transforming the bridge into a shimmering rainbow over the river with dynamic lighting effects.

Efforts towards energy efficiency and environmental sustainability are paramount in this project. Unlike traditional mercury-containing lamps that pose water quality risks, ROLEDS LED lighting fixtures are exclusively used, ensuring no environmental pollution during disposal and recycling. The fixtures are constructed from recyclable materials such as aluminum alloy and PC plastics. The project employs a DMX512 control system for precise management of lighting conditions and holiday settings, optimizing power consumption efficiently. In regular time, the bridge is set with mono color, while for holidays like Oct 1st and new year holiday, special color themes were designed and are automatically displayed on the date the theme is set.
